Johan was born in Sweden, but raised mostly in Italy and Portugal. He did his BA in New York in Exercise and Sport Science, completed his Masters Degree in Sport Psychology at the University of Utah under Keith Henshcen’s guidance, with whom he is currently working on completing his PhD.
His sport psychology career has involved working with athletes from various disciplines. Having played golf at a professional level it seemed a natural step to work with golfers, including players from both the US PGA Tour and the European Tour. He is also assisting the Leadbetter Academy in developing a youth mental toughness program.
Having worked as a professional soccer coach in the US, South Africa and Nigeria, Eriksson’s other area of expertise is that of soccer. Here, he has worked with Swedish teams such as Vasalund Essinge, Norwegian Tippeligan champions Staebekk FK, South African PSL club Teams, Nigerian NSL Teams and the Nigerian Under 17 National side. The work here involved profiling, team building, one-on-one mental skill training, Team mental skill education and staff management.
Johan’s wide background in sports and sport psychology in countries in three different continents offers him a vast understanding of different cultures. Speaking seven languages enables him to feel confident when helping athletes from all over the world maximize their potential.
